Letter: Felling fine trees in Richmond is a public loss

Dear Editor, The property next to 7500 Railway Ave. has been cleared. Now, there are no trees on that property. Why was this beautiful specimen allowed to be destroyed? The proper authorities should investigate.
Minoru Park trees
31 poplar trees in Minoru Park were given the old chainsaw in October, 2014. The city stated the trees were in poor condition. They were next to a construction site.

Dear Editor,

The property next to 7500 Railway Ave. has been cleared. Now, there are no trees on that property.

Why was this beautiful specimen allowed to be destroyed? The proper authorities should investigate.

This quote can be found on the City of Richmond’s website:

“VISION: To be the most appealing, livable and well-managed community in Canada.”

It is time to amend this ‘vision’ to reflect the actions and practices of council during the past eight years. Eliminate the words ‘appealing, liveable, well-managed.’
