Letter: Crash barriers in Richmond are just plain ugly

Dear Editor,

At the northeast corner of No. 2 Road and Francis is a colourful display of impact barriers which would be more fitting on a car race course.

I appreciate this is a high-accident corner and the townhouse fence has been destroyed a number of times but, my goodness, this is ugly and more fitting in a war zone protecting a military base.

Here are two greener more suburban suggestions: 1) Plant fast-growing ivy to camouflage the impact barriers; 2) Remove the barriers and build a raised garden and plant with shrubs.
