Letter: A good bylaw will sort Richmond's good neighbours from bad

Dear Editor, Re: “Don’t take away my Airbnb,” Letters, Feb. 28. My understanding, in attending several council meetings on the topic, is that our esteemed mayor and council are not trying to kill AirBnB as a concept.

Dear Editor,

Re: “Don’t take away my Airbnb,” Letters, Feb. 28.

My understanding, in attending several council meetings on the topic, is that our esteemed mayor and council are not trying to kill AirBnB as a concept.

They do seek to receive proper taxes and license fees. They also want a mechanism in place for when a host is not, unlike letter writer Michael Dover, a good neighbour.

I´ve talked with those who´re upset by all manner of traffic and strangers at all hours of the night up and down their residential street. A well-crafted bylaw gives the city a means to aptly respond to complaints by residents whose peace of mind is interfered with.
