Letters: Tractor cash could have been better spent

Dear Editor, Re: “Shiny new tractor brings independence,” Column, The News , Aug. 2. Did the city really spent about $50,000 on a huge tractor for work on a 3/4-acre lot? I was a volunteer a few years ago on The Sharing Farm.

Re: “Shiny new tractor brings independence,” Column, The News, Aug. 2.

 Did the city really spent about $50,000 on a huge tractor for work on a 3/4-acre lot? I was a volunteer a few years ago on The Sharing Farm.

What for and when will the tractor be used? Three-quarters of the money spent could have bought an amazing amount of food for the food bank over many years. The rest could have paid for an outside contractor. Who made the decision on this purchase, I wonder?
