Dear Editor,
A week past Sunday, almost 200 people gathered at Garry Point Park to participate in the 43rd Annual Terry Fox Run.
By the time Mayor Brodie sounded the horn to start the run down the scenic dyke trail, over $20,000 had already been raised.
Some walked. Some ran, Some wheeled. But by the time they arrived back, the total had swelled to over $25,000!
What a tremendous success it was. And the committee of dedicated people who make this event happen every year are so honoured, and inspired by the response from our community.
All of the funds raised at our run, as well as the hundreds of runs across Canada, go to important research that is making great strides to finding new treatments that are saving lives - giving extended life to those living with cancer, and precious time for their families to spend more time with them.
We want to express our gratitude to our family of dedicated volunteers and committee members - Maria, Bill M., Kishore, Lisa, Harley, Peter, Fletcher, John, Bill B., Ann, Rachelle, Arelene and others who lent a hand for all their hard work.
On behalf of our volunteer committee, thank you, Richmond for coming through with flying colours this year.
