More anger is being vented by readers disgusted with the opposition to the affordable housing plan near Steveston

Re: “Letter-writing campaign attacks Richmond affordable housing proposal,” Richmond-News.com, July 12.

I am disgusted by the organizers of the campaign against Turning Point’s affordable housing plans.

Next I’m sure they’ll rally against the proposed Kiwanis affordable housing for seniors on Railway.

The comments concerning the perceived effect on housing values are laughable, if only for the fact that people who have been lucky enough to ride the past decade’s real estate gravy train should just be thankful.

For the huge numbers of us who are hardworking renters, we deserve to have safe, affordable housing.

It’s not going to break our hearts if someone’s house value falls from $2 million to $1.9 million. You’re still a millionaire, right?

The anti-housing folks need to check their consciences and their hearts.

Seriously, Canadians are supposed to be compassionate and care that all citizens have access to basic human rights like healthcare and housing.

Shame on the folks trying to block affordable housing for all.
