Letters: Seniors need help before big sports investment

A letter writer wonders why so much money is proposed for a baseball diamond when seniors services are lacking.

Coun. Alexa Loos is pushing for improvements to the baseball diamond at Brighouse Park.

Dear Editor,

Re: “Richmond baseball diamond could get $520,000 upgrade,” Dec. 5

Congratulations, City of Richmond, for proposing a $520,000 upgrade to a baseball diamond.

We have seniors in desperate need of affordable housing, respite care and, most importantly, a year’s waiting list for adult day programs for seniors to allow the many burnt-out caregivers a bit of a break in caring for their loved one.

To think that if this money was better allocated to opening a day program in every community centre in Richmond - now that would be forward thinking.
