Letters: Richmond's Running Men inspired our neighbourhood

A Richmond News reader was so inspired by her neighbour's spirit that she decided to join in the challenge

Dear Editor,

Re: “Pair getting set for 4x4x48 challenge,” News, March 4

I was intrigued by the 4x4x48 challenge story in last Thursday’s paper, and I saw Martin and Jeff run by on Saturday night.

But it was only on Sunday morning, while talking to my neighbour Kim, I found out that Martin is also one of my neighbours, and Kim had decided to run with him one of the four-mile legs.

I decided to go along and, at noon on Sunday, Kim and I laced up our running shoes and ran the penultimate 6.4-kilometre leg with Martin and Jeff along the West Richmond dike, north to Terra Nova.

Those four miles made my weekend. This event was another example of the amazing community in Richmond, as well as the vibrant and social community my family and I experience living in our Seafair townhouse, where children play outside all day and it’s easy to get to know your neighbours.

Kudos to Martin and Jeff for your accomplishment, and thank you to the Richmond News for featuring this event.
