Letters: Richmondites shining bright

A Richmond News reader was full of praise for people who helped her in some moments of distress
wheelchair in delta bc disability

Dear Editor,

People in Richmond are wonderful. My wheelchair broke as I attempted to mount a curb, not far from my home, just as a cyclist was passing by.

Not only did the cyclist stop to help, he also walked me, and the broken wheelchair home, and then was instrumental in getting it fixed.

A recent trip to the store had one person help me onto the walkway by the shopping carts, another give me a cart, and a third loaded bags of topsoil into it for me, all without my asking.

Another time, on my way to the ICU to see my quadriplegic husband, my dog pulled so hard that my scooter toppled over.

Suddenly, there were four people around me, three of whom had been passing in their car. They popped me onto my feet, set me safely on the sidewalk and went on their way.

Forward to yesterday, when a gentleman stopped as I was loading groceries, and insisted on helping.

I’d like everyone to know how grateful I am for all the assistance I’ve received, and how lucky I am to live in Richmond.
