The lease on the Alderbridge supportive housing complex will be extended to 2027.

Dear Editor,

Re: “Letters: We were told Richmond modular housing would be temporary” Nov. 8

Mr Frohlick must live in a magical world.

I don’t know many people like him, whose lives have not been touched by addictions, mental health issues, or just plain bad luck leading to homelessness.

He says “the community” didn’t want the housing.

I’m not sure who he speaks for but it’s certainly not the community of most Canadians who understand there will always be a segment of society that needs to be taken care of.

And part of being Canadian is to ensure that everyone enjoys basic human rights like housing, health care and education.

Yes, there will be challenges that sometimes need complex solutions, but that doesn’t mean we stop caring about those in need.

I’m proud of the city for extending the lease on the Alderbridge temporary modular building.
