Continental Development Properties was advertising a "student hotel" but changed the ad this week to just "hotel."

Dear Editor,

Re: “Ad for student hotel an ‘error,’ “ News, Nov. 19

Regarding the article about the “student” hotel ad....call me a doubter but this smacks mightily of another attempt by a developer to skirt our legal zoning process.

Saying that stays of longer than six months are a deterrent for a student hotel suggests that somehow this is going to be monitored and that courses of six-month duration could not be created to make this timeframe feasible.

Once again we are seeing that a developer believes that our council and our citizens can be manipulated to their benefit. It was caught this time and hopefully it will be shown a deal is a deal and, if their original business plan no longer works, then reapply.
