Re: “Due diligence or racial discrimination?” Richmond News, July 19.
First off, a huge thank you to the Richmond School District for not conforming with the political correctness of our times and actually looking out for taxpayers.
Now that is refreshing!
The line that caught my eye in the article is “a stay-at-home mom, whose husband works in China.”
Richmond residents have come across numerous cases like this, with these “satellite” families milking the system for all it’s worth.
Yes, she pays property tax, but that is because there is no way around it. She’s making no income tax contributions, but is expecting to use our free education, free health care, subsidized community centres... the list goes on.
Enough is enough. It’s time to stand up for the rights of legitimate residents and taxpayers of this city.

I applaud Richmond Board of Education Chair Debbie Tablotney, district spokesperson David Sadlier and the front line principals. Your due diligence safeguards our Canadian values.
Proving residency is not a complicated thing to do. All new immigrants are required to do the same when admitting their kids to school.
To link scrutiny to someone who failed to comply as discrimination is inappropriate and misleading, especially when it is suggested by a person who is in the law profession.
