Letters: 911 calls answered with kindness, caring

A Richmond News reader wants to give kudos to call-takers, first responders and the Richmond Hospital.

A letter writer praised emergency responders after having to call them three times recently.

Dear Editor,

In recent months, I have had cause to call 911 on three different occasions for three different people.

When I dialed the number, it was answered immediately and I was given clear instructions about what to do with the patient while waiting for the first responders to arrive.

The person I was talking to remained on the line until they came.

In each case, they arrived very promptly and sprang into action. I cannot say enough about how well they took charge.

Many adjectives can be used to describe the tireless responders - caring, kind, helpful, efficient, effective, knowledgeable, thoughtful - the whole alphabet can be covered!

And that is not to say anything about the wonderful care that the people received once in the Emergency Department of Richmond Hospital. But that would take another letter.

They all shone a bright beacon of light in an otherwise gloomy seeming world.

Kudos and thanks to all of them!
