Letters: Open letter to the BC Nurses Union

A Richmond News reader disagrees with BCNUs stance against mandatory vaccination for nurses.

Jonathan Ho, the event organizer, said there is some vaccine hesitancy in Richmond's Chinese-speaking community.

Dear BC Nurses Union (BCNU) rep for Richmond,

I just want you to know that I have been a nurse for over 30 years and this is the first time I've been adamantly opposed to one of BCNU's stances.

BCNU's stance against mandatory vaccination for nurses is morally wrong.

We argue we will lose RNs (HCW) with this mandate but we are losing health professionals every day now because they are getting sick due to the variant.

This contributes to the shortage and stressful workplace, as well.

Most importantly, MY mandate to protect the public from harm is of utmost priority.

This is an extraordinary time and BCNU needs to strengthen its backbone to respond morally to this extraordinary circumstance.

Thank you for listening.
