Dear Editor,
I penned this letter in my head while waiting to get through the Massey Tunnel yesterday. I was, once again, going the wrong direction at rush hour. This time it was a short wait — only 45 minutes. On Friday afternoons, sometimes it’s taken me 80-90 minutes to clear the tunnel. That’s time stolen from me that I could have spent with my three, young children!
This tunnel is such an inadequate, outdated and irrelevant solution to our 21st century traffic problem. To think that the needs of thousands of people can be accommodated by a tunnel designed and built in the 1950’s is ludicrous. With 30 per cent of tunnel traffic either starting or ending in Richmond, why aren’t Richmond residents more vocal in their support for a bridge?
