Dear Editor,

Re: “Who are we building all these condos in Richmond for anyway?” Letters, Feb. 17.

I can answer this one: my husband and I.

When our youngest child moved out of our single family home last April, we sold and bought a condo in City Centre. We love it. It is close to most amenities we need and want, the Canada Line, Minoru Park and the dyke, and it has a wonderful view — we are enjoying our condo life immensely.

Many others in our three-tower and townhouse complex are, too. We are happy to note most suites seem to be occupied, with an array of ages and stages of life. There are retired folks like us, but also young adults and families with children.

As our development, like many others around us, has a large green space atop the parking garage, there is ample space for kids to play.

We watched them build snowmen recently, seen them kicking around a soccer ball and have even seen children learning to ride bikes in this area.

This area is definitely changing, and we are seeing the transformation from suburban to city life before our eyes.

It looks remarkably like what we’ve seen while traveling in cities in Europe.

And, as long as parks and green space keep pace with denser living, it seems to work out fine.
