Dear Editor,
The Richmond Board of Education and senior staff would like to thank the parents and the staff of our school district community who attended last week’s Long Range Facilities Plan Open Houses.
Your questions and comments were extremely valuable as they will help us make difficult decisions as we move forward.
People were respectful, insightful and reasonable. We are grateful that you took the time to attend.
We are working right now to get all of the questions and feedback posted on our Let's Talk website at LetsTalksd38.ca.
We know that this is a difficult issue for everyone. All 16 schools that are being considered for closure offer wonderful experiences for their students and families.
It is important that we work together to ensure that our school district can support our learners today and in the future.
We know that school closure committees continue to represent the feedback and concerns of their families and staff.
We thank the committees for their advocacy and will continue to work with them throughout the process.
We are appreciative of the efforts of the school-based principals and vice-principals, RASA members and stakeholder partners who helped support parents at the open house sessions.
We began this process as a community and it is important that we continue to be a community as we move forward.
We will continue to receive your feedback throughout the next months as we move towards the board’s decision in October 2016.
