Letter: We all bear responsibility for teen's death

Dear Editor,

There has been much written regarding the sorrow and loss people feel following the death of Alfred Wong, the teenager caught in the crossfire of a recent Vancouver drug-related shooting. However, I have heard very little about remorse.

I’m not talking remorse from the person who fired the weapon, but from everyone who participates in the drug trade. Every dollar handed over to drug dealers subsidizes these horrific acts of violence. Isn’t it time we look into the mirror and ask ourselves how accountable we are for the death of Alfred and others when we purchase illicit drugs, even occasionally, for recreational purposes.

Isn’t it time to stop funding the very people who bring death to our communities through violence and fentanyl-laced drugs?  We are part of the problem, are we willing to be part of the solution?
