Dear Editor,
Seeing a sea of blue and yellow toques amass as we proceeded out for the walk was a moving sight.
On Saturday, Feb. 25, about 200 people participated in Richmond’s inaugural Coldest Night of the Year Walk to fundraise for Chimo Community Services.
The funds raised will go towards programs serving the homeless, hungry and hurting in Richmond. We had a goal of $25,000, but with the amazing support of staff, volunteers, walkers and our two wonderful lead sponsors, Shafik Ladha and Vancity (No. 3 Road Community Branch and Blundell Community Branch), we were able to raise more than $32,000.
The manner in which the community rallied together is something I will not soon forget.
Thank you once again to all those that participated — I am humbled by your generosity.
