Letter: Treasure what we have on Canada Day

Canada Day
The News asked four prominent Richmondites what Canada Day means to them

Dear Editor,

On the eve of Canada’s celebration of 150 years of her existence, I wish to express my thoughts not only on this big day but also on the future of this land.

As an immigrant of 30 years myself, as the majority are, we may have had our challenges and struggles and may continue to face more going forward.

I would like to remind everyone that we are comprised of different races, faiths and customs and need to be tolerant and continue to find ways to co-exist peacefully.

More so, as we look around the world today and observe the destruction due to the very reasons we need to stand firm in our resolve that the same should never happen in this land.

I wish to remind Canadians of all colours that we are blessed to live in a country like no other and need to make the extra effort to keep it that way.
