Dear Editor

Re: “Dog-eating slur,” Letters Sept. 18.

Kudos to Michael Fu!

Thanks for sharing your story.

As a Chinese teenager growing up in the B.C. Interior during the late ‘60s, I wasn’t a cool kid, but I was accepted.

Anytime I saw injustice or unkind remarks, I felt the need to address the situation.

I continued to challenge myself during my adulthood at college, home and work to change unfair attitudes towards minorities.

I encourage people to think about stereotypes and prejudice remarks before speaking.

These kinds of behaviours are not acceptable in any community.

We all need to educate ourselves and others to change the mindset.
