Dear Editor,

I moved into Richmond in 1952 after marrying my wife, who was raised in Richmond.

I bought a house from a contractor who financed the total amount, since you were unable to get a mortgage unless you were a veteran, and then only if it was acreage.

Since then, I have seen many great things happen in Richmond.

I have met and worked with many of the city council members during the years and they have done a great job.

Unfortunately, they often get stuck with decisions that were made in the past and are unwilling to make changes and unwilling to deviate as if they are stuck in the mud.

I have been on many committees and board member and president of several community organizations, most of them had a term limit of eight years and an age limit of 70 years.

I think and would like to get some support to put some term limit on all of the Richmond council members, similar to the above.

Give it some thought. New council members often bring new ideas and enthusiasm.

Let’s make it happen.

Mel Goodwin
