Letter: Stopping and starting in Richmond is a waste of time

Dear Editor, Richmond needs a traffic management system. Our current system of pavement sensors seems to let through cars that are stopped one way and then changes to let stopped cars through in the other direction.

Dear Editor,

Richmond needs a traffic management system. Our current system of pavement sensors seems to let through cars that are stopped one way and then changes to let stopped cars through in the other direction. This means you can literally stop at eight lights in a row. What a horrific waste of gas and time.

Once you cross the Arthur Laing Bridge and hit Granville Street and 70th Avenue you can usually go all the way to downtown Vancouver without stopping at a light.

No. 2 Road used to be reasonable, but they’ve inserted three new lights along that stretch and it is now as slow as all other Richmond arterials.

Let’s get this fixed and stop wasting gas and harming the environment.
