Dear Editor,
Re: “Canadian values lacking in some speculators,” Letters, Sept. 16.
The letter writtern by Rustom Dubash was very well said and true to the point.
I cannot help to think that all levels of government — municipal, provincial and federal — are showing signs of doing something about the amount of international money coming into the country now, given the public’s outcry.
The current smoke screen is a disgrace to all Canadians who actually contribute diligently to make a better Canada, only to be robbed by some foreigners and their so-called dirty money and schemes.
All levels of government are definitely reaping the benefits from the developers and realtors with the “you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours” attitude.
Has anyone noticed the increase of foreign exchange outlets popping up everywhere within the city?
All levels of government need to close all loopholes and create a report system for money coming in, including from all financial institutions.
Tapping into land titles and income tax filings is the way forward and should have been done years ago, although it’s never too late.
I am Chinese and I urge all foreigners, including new immigrants, to show respect to Canada, the country you have adopted.
