Dear Editor,
Another night, another horrendous commute back into Richmond due to the never-ending, malfunctioning railway crossing arms at Alderbridge/Hwy. 91 and Shell Road.
This has been an ongoing issue that occurs at least once or twice a month (it’s happened twice in the past two weeks this month), yet nobody does anything to fix it. CN Rail doesn’t seem to care, nor does the city.
Hundreds of us trying to get anywhere near our destination in Richmond this evening (Wednesday) were stuck in gridlock at every possible route in from the highway or Knight Street.
I find it laughable that we’re told to shut our engines off when a train is crossing, yet the City of Richmond doesn’t do anything to fix the malfunctioning crossing arms that has us all idling away for hours longer than any train would have us wait.

Editor's note: Although this is not the city's jurisdiction, it says it has attempted to contact CN Rail numerous times to rectify the situation.
