Dear Editor,

Re: 65 people visit ROX per day;Oval, News, Feb. 3.

The headline writer at the News surely missed a great opportunity on this story. Just think, it could have read “Richmond council on the ROX”.

This would probably be accurate, considering the amount of taxpayers’ money wasted on the thing.

I didn’t realize how true my tag of the “Big Owe-Val” would become, and certainly didn’t visualize the length to which Richmond council would go!

If 65 visitors a day justify another million dollar expenditure, why did the same council cut our library allocation? The attendance there is probably a hundred times that of the ROX!

In addition, they claim membership at approximately 6,500. Well, whoop de do, does this justify the past huge expenditures? Since when does Richmond fund a “private club?”

Of course, having the top dog at city hall as the boss of the Owe-Val doesn’t hurt either. Seems to be a case of the tail wagging the dog!
