An Open Letter to: Mayor Malcolm Brodie, Todd Stone and Christy Clark. regarding road pricing.
We, the working public, (homeowners and car owners) are tired of your taxation policies.
If you want a funding model for mass transit, stop looking to the 90 per cent who are already funding your antics. Have TransLink exercise a five-year pay freeze, raise transit fares by 10 cents (make the user pay), exercise control over your city budgets and use part of your surplus to pay your portion of transit.
Taxpayers have a breaking point and you have gone beyond this. If you are not able to manage the city and the province like a business, step aside and let someone else do it.
Years of irresponsible spending by the city has clearly indicated your lack of business sense. At every city property tax budget, you ask for an increase. What has happened to the increased revenue from property values rising and the out of control new development?
Are you that insensitive to your constituents that you feel this is your own money and we are your own cheque books?
Folks, during the next civic election, let us fix this mess.
