I couldn’t agree more with letter writer Peter Boldy more. I have been writing about the rampant speeding on Richmond streets for years. Anyone who drives down Steveston Highway knows that the posted speed limit is like a suggestion rather than the law.
If you do the 50/km/hr limit you are met with the horn, finger or worse — the dreaded road rage. Our local RCMP detachment does not seem to care or have an interest in enforcing the speeding epidemic thus raising our already high insurance rates.
I drive this route daily and have personally seen cars pass marked police cars wth no consequence. Something needs to be done and soon as I have seen enough carnage on our roads.
