Letter: RCCS lunch helps seniors and harmony

Dear Editor, Richmond Chinese Community Society (RCCS) has been doing an excellent job in serving a large segment of the community with limited resources.

Dear Editor,

Richmond Chinese Community Society (RCCS) has been doing an excellent job in serving a large segment of the community with limited resources.

In addition to serving the people of Richmond, RCCS has been doing something special for the seniors.

Every year, RCCS, with assistance from a number of sponsors and donors, holds a lunch party for seniors.

This year was the 14th Annual Lunch for Seniors. The Continental Seafood Restaurant at Cambie and No. 5 Road was an ideal setting for this annual event held last Saturday.

Like every other year, the large dining hall on this occasion was overflowing with people of diverse backgrounds.

In addition to other invitees, including our elected officials, RCCS invites reps from various organizations including our community centres.

As president of East Richmond Community Association (Cambie Community Centre), it has been a privilege for me to attend this lunch party for the past several years.

Every year, the food, entertainment, service and hospitality is wonderful.

In addition to delicious food and great entertainment, every attendee also gets a gift. Some of the lucky ones also win some prizes. It is a great community event.

I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to RCCS Board of Directors, staff, sponsors, volunteers and entertainers for this wonderful annual event.

Special events like this go a long way in promoting intercultural harmony in our community.
