Letter: Please leave Garry Point alone, Mr. McNulty

Dear Editor, Re: “What’s the point of a pier at Garry?” Letters, Nov. 4 . I wish to express complete agreement with Mr. Assaly regarding the unnecessary pier at Garry Point.
McNulty pier
Coun. Bill McNulty is hoping the abandoned pilings, in the background, at Garry Point, can be used in a bid to build a new pier that could welcome deep draft tall ships to the city during Canada’s 150th anniversary celebrations in 2017.

Dear Editor,

Re: “What’s the point of a pier at Garry?” Letters, Nov. 4

I wish to express complete agreement with Mr. Assaly regarding the unnecessary pier at Garry Point.

Yes, it is asinine and as much a complete waste as the original ships were a few years ago.

Those pilings are a constant reminder of all the money wasted on the original idea of ships sailing in.

No, Mr. McNulty, your idea stinks and you shouldn’t be allowed near that pot of taxpayers hard-earned dollars.

And while I’m at it — isn’t it time your “best before” date is long overdue and new blood welcomed?

Leave our charming park as is and let us enjoy watching the river traffic and feel the connection of the world around us.

The letter that followed Mr. Assaly’s was also spot-on and thank you, too, Mr. Johnson.
