Letter: Park decision in Steveston just plain wrong

Open letter to Mayor Brodie and Council:

The letters by Kathleen Beaumont (Heritage plans need an update,” Letters Jan. 8) and Ray Arnold (Killing trees no way to kill a garden,” Letters Nov. 27, 2015) in the local paper regarding the little park beside the (Steveston) post office is in my opinion, shared by many local residents.

I’m sure if the public had been consulted, they most certainly would not have given approval to allow the destruction of this once beautiful park.

My banking is done at the Royal Bank across the street and each time I’m in the area the feelings of anger and disgust for the officials who gave permission for this devastation surfaces once again.

I had written a letter to Coun. Carol Day on this subject and had stated there were other options for the old building that had been jammed in this beautiful little park; it could have been moved to Third Ave. beside the old court house building.

Whoever made the decision to put this old building in the present location should certainly be banned from ever making decisions regarding Richmond parks!
