Dear Editor,

The Richmond News rocks!

For two years, since the bus stop was removed to accommodate more truck traffic, bus riders heading to the Ironwood Mall were made to disembark on the far side of Steveston Highway and brave the intersection at No. 5 Rd.

Just a couple of months after a frustrated bus driver wrote the News to point out the danger that presented for disabled and elderly passengers, a new bus stop suddently appeared.

Local mayors are lobbying Ottawa for a share of federal stimulus money for transit. But that money would go to big projects like SkyTrain, not little workaday things like accessible bus stops.

Transit users could lobby local politicians or they could just write the News (which the politicians read) and maybe they’d actually get it done.
