Letter: Morning road race in Richmond

This route along Railway Avenue is like a racetrack early in the morning according to a letter writer

Dear Editor,

Another morning commute along the Railway/Granville/No. 2 route that feels like I have mistakenly entered into a Grand Prix race.

I admit to driving above the posted 50 km/h speed limit, but I am left “in the dust” by drivers going in excess of 70 km/h  along this stretch.

Granted, this is early in the morning, before 6:30 a.m. But, from what I know, other than school zones, speed limits do not have timeframes.

As well, there are drivers who seem to attempt to intimidate others by driving so close that their headlights can’t be seen in my rear view mirror.

Exiting my driveway anytime of the day is an accident waiting to happen, with it being difficult to judge the speed of oncoming vehicles, as well as some drivers speeding up when they see someone entering the road.

I am an experienced driver in my mid 50s. I like to think I drive defensively and safely. Richmond drivers need to change their habits and slow down.
