Dear Editor,
Re: “City council sticks by anti-pot postion,” News, Oct. 25.
In your newspaper on Oct. 25, it stated the opinions of Richmond city council.
They believe that there should be stricter laws on marijuana.
Even more strict than the laws for cigarettes and alcohol.
This is something that I would have to disagree with, because marijuana is not nearly as bad for your health.
It has been proven to have many medicinal properties; way more than in cigarettes or alcohol.
For example, it can be used to treat cancer, depression, anxiety, seizures, arthritis and so much more!
Also, you can use a certain part of the plant for your health and it won’t get you high (CBD).
City council should not be so negative towards legalizing marijuana and they don’t need to put as many rules on it as they think they do.
Instead, they should be focused on educating the community by showing adults how to use it properly and responsibly; similar to how it is advertised to not drink too much alcohol.
Overall, since marijuana will be legalized soon, we should all do our part and learn more about it.
