Dear Editor,
Re: “City staff urge legalizing illegal hotels,” News, Jan. 4.
This situation illustrates perfectly the modus operandi of this council.
First, they collectively bury their heads in the sand and pretend there is no problem.
When that doesn’t work, they form a committee, hoping we will forget there is a problem. When forced to reveal all, they claim it is too difficult to enforce existing laws or create new ones. So, back to burying their collective heads in the sands.
If the empty monster homes have not already destroyed our wonderful neighborhoods, then this “making illegal, legal” surely will.
The emotions of the Richmond citizens has gone from bewilderment, to shock, to aggravation and now anger at the direction this city is heading. Council isn’t listening, and only Coun. Harold Steves and Coun. Carol Day have a conscious and care about how we feel.
Continually pandering to one noisy special interest group after another, while ignoring the silent majority, will eventually render Richmond unlivable for many of us.
