Dear Editor,
The City of Richmond Mayor, who is a very experienced politician, with many years of public service, says “no” to a jet fuel tank farm sitting next to the Fraser River.
Richmond MP Joe Peschisolido is another experienced politician, who warns of the negative effects of this project. There are seismic concerns and no fire suppresion.
Coun. Alexa Loo notes there are “good parts” of this deal, and that would be jobs. She also suggest it’s a done deal so we should make the best of it. This shows her rookie standing as a councillor and indicates, perhaps, the learning curve may be too steep for her.
This tank farm is an environmental time bomb, as well as a very dangerous threat to the public with huge tankers navigating the river and off-loading this toxic and explosive substance. Loo’s overly simplistic look at the “good parts” still won’t make lemonade out of these jet fuel lemons.
