Dear Editor,
With all due respect, we had a real sense of “deja vu” when reading that Coun. Alexa Loo voted to support the bridge replacing the Massey Tunnel, against the wishes of more than 90 per cent of voters who do not support it.
To quote Loo, “….(it) is going to be tremendous in terms of economic growth by getting more cars moving.”
What?
Tremendous because cars will now be moved a few miles down the road to a new Oak Street bottleneck?
And how does “moving cars” a few miles down the road equate to “economic growth”? Economic growth? Where? How? It looks more like $3.5 billion of my tax money flushed down the toilet when it could instead go to schools, health care and social services.
Is Loo aware that the bridge is nothing but a gateway for handling jet fuel, coal, and LNG which are deadly, explosive, carcinogenic materials?
While an argument may be made that Loo has no idea what the issues are concerning the bridge, one thing is certain, she is certainly out of touch with voters — again.
Interesting thing in B.C. though, voters have a long memory.
