Letter: Less street parking to fix congestion?

Dear Editor, Traffic in Richmond has been becoming increasingly congested, let alone Vancouver’s traffic. I propose that the city look into banning all street parking on all major arteries that have four lanes.

Dear Editor,

Traffic in Richmond has been becoming increasingly congested, let alone Vancouver’s traffic.

I propose that the city look into banning all street parking on all major arteries that have four lanes.

Drivers constantly change lanes in-and-out of traffic, to bypass slow drivers who drive on the inside lane to avoid changing lanes.

I think it is fair to say that if there are less lane changes, that it would decrease traffic accidents as well. Ample street parking is available throughout Richmond on two-lane streets and side streets. It certainly wouldn’t cost the city much to implement the changes.

Less congestion would mean less gasoline consumed, cleaner air, and more efficient business performance.
