Dear Editor,
It has become “fashionable” in some quarters to complain about city services and taxes etc., so let me share a recent experience.
The area around the municipal water meter installed at my home several years ago developed a problem, so I emailed Richmond engineering and public works, thinking it might be a leak or blockage of some kind. An hour later, an inspector knocked at my door to advise he would send a crew by. Within a day, a crew checked the meter and concluded the problem was due to settling, and in less than a week, the meter housing had been raised and the surrounding bricks levelled!
The city employees were uniformly courteous, conscientious and well-informed.
That’s outstanding service in any book. Good on em’.
