Dear Editor,
On the way home from work this week, I stopped at the supermarket. When I got home, I put away the groceries and decided to get on with a bit more computer work.
So, it wasn’t till an hour or so later, that I realized I didn’t have my purse. I turned the house, and the car, upside down, with no luck. I went back to the store, but no one there had seen it.
As I arrived back home, thinking of all the cards I would need to stop, the reports I would need to make out, and the things I would need to replace, I was surprised to find a stranger waiting for me.
This kind woman, who also lives in Richmond, had found my purse and tracked me down through my drivers licence so she could return it.
Her English was hesitant and my Chinese is non-existent, but her kindness and honesty needed no translation, nor did my gratitude towards her.
There are some wonderful people out there!
She began the New Year with a great gesture of kindness. I didn’t get her name, but I will be thinking of her when I try to pass it on.
