Dear Editor,
The Feb. 3 edition of The Richmond News was an enlightening and thought-provoking read.
The common theme that ran throughout was that educating ourselves and bridging gaps allows us to live in peace and understanding.
This gives me hope and reinforces something I’m always advocating: educate educate, educate. Start when children are young, encourage them to ask questions, give them the supports that will allow them a good education.
If you are educated and ask questions, you learn tolerance and acceptance, not fear and distrust.
And, continue to ask questions to educate yourself about what you don’t understand. Nothing is more satisfying than that “aha!” moment when you have a realization — especially when you are sharing it with your family, your community and your world.
This edition shows that those who learn about other cultures can work together peacefully, with support and success.
