Dear Editor,
ICBC is asking for a rate increase due to, as usual, higher claims and payouts. Maybe the government should open their eyes and see the calibre of driver that is on the road today.
I believe the whole drivers licensing system needs an overhaul.
It would be great if, when taking your road test, you were “actually tested” on driving ability and not just trying to manoeuvre around the block to receive your licence.
It is maddening to drive in the Lower Mainland to see drivers who can’t comprehend simple driving manoeuvres, but they passed their driver’s exam.
A better and stricter system would hopefully send more knowledgeable and defensive drivers to our roads, which would lower claims and hopefully rates. With the Liberal government continually reaping the profits of its Crown corporations, I don’t see rates coming down any time soon.
