Dear Editor,
I enjoy and am usually behind (letter writer) Ray Arnold and what he says about Richmond.
The one thing I believe we are missing when we talk about the housing crisis is the fact we have young, hard-working 20-ish, or younger, milennials who can’t find affordable housing to rent.
Anything affordable (and I don’t believe in that word much) is run-down, dark and depressing. On top of that, landlords are often reluctant to rent to young people. Some have reason, but I believe you should never judge anyone without knowing something about them. People should not simply judge another based on how they dress or cut their hair.
For five years, my son has never missed a day of work and pays his rent and bills, but then he hasn’t enough for food. None of us can afford to buy homes, especially here, but we have put 25 years into living in this community and we all deserve more options than are available.
