Letter: Get tough with Richmond's drivers

Richmond drivers, such as the ones pictured last month, are still using their cellphones behind the wheel. However, RCMP carried out a Distracted Driving campaign in March and the numbers fell dramtically compared to the same month the year before.

Dear Editor,

With the booming population in Richmond during the last few years, we all notice the crowded streets, especially during rush hours.

I believe it is time for tougher traffic rules, because we all notice lots of violations every day, everywhere on Richmond’s streets.

For example, I have noticed that two or three vehicles will turn left on a yellow light, instead of one.

I also believe we need random checkpoints to enforce new, tougher rules for driver licences.
