Dear Editor,
Re: “Tiny birds go humming along despite winter’s chill,” Voices, Dec. 7.
For those who are interested in feeding hummingbirds throughout the winter, it is helpful to know that they are looking for their first meal of the day at civil twilight, which begins about a half hour before sunrise.
The actual time varies slightly from day to day, for example, it will move from 7:24 a.m. on Dec. 15 to 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 31.
A daily, civil twilight table for Vancouver, morning and night, can be downloaded from the Internet at timeanddate.com/sun/canada/vancouver.
