Letter: Driving with entitlement in Richmond

Richmond Drivers

Dear Editor,

If the provincial coffers need some cash,  all the government has to do is enforce speed limits. The people speeding on our roads have developed what appears to be some sort of entitlement issue.

Try driving Alderbridge sometime, between Garden City road and Shell Road. Most of these speeders seem to think it’s an extension of the east/west connector and drive 80km in a 50km zone.

Or try Dyke Road between No. 2 Road and No. 5 Road. That’s become a full-blown Autobahn, a speedway alternative to Steveston Highway, I suppose. What bugs me is that these brainless idiots seem to think they have the right to speed and oppose things like roadway law enforcement, photo radar, or any other means of ticketing.

I say, use all means necessary to endorse the rules of the road on these goofs and remind them that driving is a privilege not a right.

In the meantime, walkers, joggers, cyclists, and other motorists beware. There are complete idiots out there with apparent entitlement rights.
