Letter: Construction obscures city's beauty

The Editor,

Recently, there has been construction work near my neighbourhood.

In the mornings, I don't need my alarm clock because the construction uproar is impossible not to hear. I understand that construction is needed to form better roads, but what I don't understand is the huge amount of time needed for construction.

Often I see construction signs being held, roads being dug out but no workers are seen.

This continues for days. Pedestrians are unable to travel on the paths properly, driveways are so unsteady that they cause damage to the cars. In the winter, when construction work is left behind because of the weather, the ice between the cracks on the pavement expands, ruining the roads even more. As I sit inside my house I can feel the shaking whenever a truck or bus passes by.

As a Richmond resident I hope that the construction work will be limited to a certain amount of time. This way, not only does it assure residents of the safety and peace they should receive, but it also makes Richmond an even more beautiful place to live.
