Dear Editor,
I am writing this letter to congratulate and commend the Thompson Community Centre.
I am not sure if you are aware, but the staff at the community centre won an award on last week. Richmond Society for Community Living chose them as this year’s recipient of the community award and they couldn’t be more deserving.
I was so happy when I looked up and saw the same woman that helped me feel at home at Thompson Community Centre being recognized.
Thompson Community Centre is an inclusive community centre.
I have a foster son that has special needs and they have gone out of their way to make us feel welcome and to ensure that he was able to participate in programs.
They also have many special needs adults working at their facility and they are made to be a part of the team, doing meaningful tasks and developing life skills.
I just couldn’t be more impressed. Thank you Thompson Community Centre. You are truly making a difference in many lives, including mine.
