Dear Editor,
On Oct. 6, 1937, the editor of what was then known as the Marpole-Richmond Review published a series of photographic views of Richmond that doubtless made the readers agree they were living in one of the most wonderful places in the world.
The captions to three of the photos are well worth recording for today’s readers:
“Orchard scene, typical of Richmond;” “Richmond is fast becoming a land of trees and flowers;” “‘Be it ever so humble’ — especially is the ballad true if your home happens to be on Lulu Island or Sea Island.”
Captions very different from the ones we read nowadays.
