A man casts his ballot in the 2017 provincial election at Minoru Activity Centre on May 9.

Dear Editor,

My wife and I are very disappointed.

We seniors were ticketed on voting day for parking our vehicle opposite the voting station. I couldn’t find a handicapped parking spot close to the voting station, as my wife is very limited in her movements.

I was issued a parking ticket. I went to city hall to get an exemption, but was denied. I have a disabled decal. I then paid the $35 dollar ticket. How many other handicapped senior citizens were ticketed while trying to exercise their constitutional right to vote?

Voting day has been a costly day.

It’s taken a few dollars from my groceries.
